Flowers come into the warehouse from all over the world.
When I was a little girl I used to watch the Lee Phillip show on Chicago television, but what I didn't know is that her family owned a flower shop. She began this show because of flowers in 1952, won sixteen Emmy Awards and moved to California in the late 1980's and into a home that was once owned by Cary Grant. She and her husband William Bell began writing Emmy Award winning soap operas like the Guiding Light, As The World Turns, Another World, The Young And The Restless and The Bold And The Beautiful.

The little flower shop remained run by her brother and now run by her very extended family of children and grandchildren. It is no longer the little shop around the corner but a huge conglomerate of suburban shops and designer warehouses located in Chicago and the suburbs.
We all got to make our own arrangements.
This is my arrangement, looking at all kinds of things I could have done differently, but it is lovely sitting on my coffee table!

Such beautiful color! I loved looking at all the floral bouquets. I used to work in a florist shop and do some floral design. Your bouquet is so pretty, Eileen. The tulips remind me of spring!

Eileen girl I am too jealous of you having such a wonderful time there PLUS making up your own bouquet ? You are so lucky to see and breath in that fresh flower air there .. it amazed me watching the shop clerks in Holland hand tie extraordinary bouquets in record time .. Holland had flower shops every where in each little town and city .. my most favourite one came from our Dutch neighbors (while we lived there) .. white and different degrees of green .. it was astoundingly beautiful : )
And you are right .. any indoor "gardening" we do does not count ! LOL

I think what you are talking about is the Belladona Delphinium that they said are so adaptable to arrangements.

(P.S. I heard, long ago, that beladonna delphinium causes a headache. Maybe, modern hybrids are different.)

Eileen, you manage to go on the best tours and when you add in a bit of history lesson, that makes the tour/event seem even more inviting. I bet it was cold inside that warehouse; I couldn't take that but know it is necessary to keep the flowers remaining fresh.

It makes sense because belladona was used as an anesthetic, also poisonous. Luckily it is enclosed in glass.
