These are just some of the new introductions that will tolerate heat.
Glamouflage Grape Petunia
Variegated Foliage
Blue A Fuse Petunia
Each flower is a different color combination.
Supertunia Watermelon
Self-cleaning
I can't wait to try this one as some of the other Supertunias are great in the heat and last all summer.
Trilogy Petunia
Great in the rain
Supercal Artist Rose Petchoa
This is a cross between a petunia and calibrachoa and is much more heat resistant than either of the parents.
Supercal Blushing Pink Petchoa
Blushing Princess Allysum
Four to eight inches tall and trails to three feet
Frosty Knight Allysum
Sungelonia Angelonia Family
Compact, tons of blooms, white, deep pink and blue
Lanai Vintage Rose Verbena
Estrella Pink Star Verbena
Caliente Deep Rose Geranium
Self-cleaning, constant bloom, slightly trailing
These are just some of the new introductions for 2013 that are advertised as heat resistant. Hopefully, we can find some of these new annuals in the nurseries. Annuals are expensive so it is worth planting the varieties that will stand up to the heat of our recent summers.

Hi Eileen, I went to a presentation last Saturday on "What's New for 2013" and MANY of these same plants were highlighted. Good job, Eileen, in introducing some great new options for planting this year!
Well I'm hoping that many of these turn up in our nurseries here, as they would fit the conditions here perfectly.
I really would love to get the self-cleaning Supertunia. What a treat that would be. I'm also intrigued by the Petchoa. I've been wondering when they would turn up.
Great post highlighting some lovely plants.
I guess after last summer we need to be concentrating on those heat resistant plants. I love petunias and verbena so I am loving these new ones Eileen. I love that Blue A Fuse Petunia and the Watermelon. SO pretty. I hope these new verbenas are mold resistant because some summers I have a problem with that. Thanks for showing these new ones. I am ready to plant. Now if we can wait out until spring.
I'm giving those geraniums a try this year... L
I love this sort of preview Eileen. It makes me excited to think about the possibilities for spring even when we are buried under so much snow!
Eileen girl these all look fabulous !
That is the type of annuals we need .. heat/humidity resistant that will put up with our summers.
I hope I can find a few here!
I read some where that there is some kind of disease that is attacking Impatient flowers and that the breeders have few to offer .. I don't know how true this is but it will be interesting to see what is offered come Spring.
Joy : )
seems funny while waiting for more snow to come....to be here looking at heat resistant blooms. I can almost smell them... your pictures are so lovely. I too love that geranium. Now, if you could only find one that is Japanese Beetle resistant :)

I'm impressed with a heat tolerant petunia. Love all those blooms especially the geranium. They do well in my area and are mostly a perennial here.
