Chicago Rosy

As you have probably noticed, I have several dayliles that have Chicago in their name.  I have a favorite Chicago daylily and it is Chicago Rosy.  It is tall, it is large and it blooms for a long period of time.  I don't enjoy dividing daylilies every year, like Stella D'Oro, so I appreciate it when maybe every three or four years I can share my daylilies.

Chicago Rosy is probably a four or five year division candidate, but it is a great performer during this time of multiplying.  The flower is large, orange-red in color and has strong scapes that show in all directions.  It grows 25 - 30 " with 6.5" flowers.  http://seasidedaylily.com/ I have ordered from them several times.

Thanks Larry, I have been practicing trying to include photos in my post. I did find some directions on line so I thought I would try just one today and see if I can save it.

It looks very much like my Chicago Apache but the color is rosier:) I've seen a couple others with the name Chicago in them.

It's really nice to visit your blog. I can relate to everything you say because I'm in the same area and grow many of the same plants.

Hi Eileen. Your Chicago daylily is a beauty and it has so many blooms now. I have really fallen in love with lilies the last couple of years. The only problem is that there are just too many lovely ones LOL! With my tendency to collect plants this is really bad.

Thanks Marnie, I do have Chicago Apache. It is a little more intense, taller and not as full flowering as Chicago Rosy.

I also have Arnies Choice, named after Arnie Morton (Morton's Restaurant).

I know Lona, it is an obsession. I really do not know where I can put one more plant, but I will find a way!
