What a week, torrential rains, wind, cold, frost warnings, yuck! However, all is calm again and I struggled to put in some of my plants that have been sitting around in and out of my garage.
I have just about completed the plantings in all of my large containers and just have some small table planters and my shed hayracks to plant. I do want to fill in my side border with some more spring blooming perennials, because it seems sort of bare after the tulips and daffodils die back, waiting for the summer perennials.
I did buy some metal artwork for the north side of my house to hang on the fence. Thank you (I think it was Jeanne) who had the idea of a gallery. If I am wrong please let me know. These are all works in progress, as far as gardens this is what is blooming today!
What a week of weird weather! Seems to be a common theme for many gardeners this year ... no matter where they live.
ReplyDeleteLovely photos ... that rhodo is a pretty colour, but the Salvia is just gorgeous. I also love that lovely yellow Ranunculus and your Densiformis looks terrific.
Will be looking forward to seeing more photos of your containers too.
The clematis look great... speaking of scale... I've found it on two of my mugho pines and have been using an old bottle of Isotox which I believe has some systemic action... any advice on what might work better? Thanks, Larry
ReplyDeleteThanks Bernie,
ReplyDeleteI wonder if you can grow that salvia, it really likes the heat and can be dry.
Eileen
Larry, I used Isotox many years ago as a spray in the springtime before everything leafs out. The only problem now is if the bugs have come out from under the scale, it is too late for Isotox.
ReplyDeleteI bought a hand held spray this year called All Seasons Spray Oil by Bonide. It says it kills the scale insects in all stages.
It seems to have worked on my wintercreeper and rhus. Good luck!
Eileen
This week has been a mixture of weather. From frost to storms and sweltering high humidity. I just hope tat was the last of the cold spells.
ReplyDeleteYour clematis's are so pretty and I wish my May Night Salvia was a large as yours.Mine is in the creeping stage this year. Have a wonderful weekend.
Lona
Lona, I have been able to work outside most of the day today, so nice. My garage is finally cleared out of plants. I have noticed my roses are being eaten by inchworms, even though I feed a systemic.

You're further along than I am Eileen. I do have some annuals out, but still have a few containers to plant. It's been a rough week weather-wise for getting much done in the garden.
ReplyDeleteI agree garden girl, it has been a strange week. I am hurrying it along because I have a group of frineds coming next Sunday. I am hoping I can everything just right! Not always possible is it?
ReplyDeleteEileen
Now that is a well established garden!
ReplyDeleteYour mid-May garden is lovely, Eileen. You must be delighted! Yes, my tender annual pots are also in and out of the garage ... perhaps, this will be the final week! Happy weekend gardening :)
