We are only 16 miles from the city so we do not get quite as cold as further out.

I had so many things out this year. Have a wonderful day!

EileenGatsbys Gardenshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04228978705943696143noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2243579953985871041.post-7275791138949280902010-05-09T08:44:42.139-05:002010-05-09T08:44:42.139-05:00I took a risk and didn't cover anything. I was pretty confident our nice tree-covered microclimate would keep everything cozy even if there had been a light freeze - it usually does. There can be frost in our neighbor's yards, or even on our front lawn, but the shade garden is usually fine as long as the temps don't dip into the 20's.

Happy Mother's Day Eileen!garden girlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13284047851881823280noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2243579953985871041.post-33537841139403450232010-05-08T21:14:29.209-05:002010-05-08T21:14:29.209-05:00Thanks Jeanne,

I will really have to work in the garden tomorrow!

EileenGatsbys Gardenshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04228978705943696143noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2243579953985871041.post-36291013037807518692010-05-08T21:09:11.371-05:002010-05-08T21:09:11.371-05:00Hi Bernie,

I hope you had a nice Mothers Day.

EileenGatsbys Gardenshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04228978705943696143noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2243579953985871041.post-64462830055999128752010-05-08T18:39:27.379-05:002010-05-08T18:39:27.379-05:00It always amazes me when I read about the lengths ...It always amazes me when I read about the lengths gardeners in cooler/cold places go to in order to protect their plants. I had no idea gardeners were wrapping up plants in fleece and plastic until a few years ago. It's a source of fascination to me ... heating pads for seedlings, heaters for greenhouses etc.

It's not a commonplace thing here in my part of the world to do things like this ... we plant things under shade or out of the wind, but that's about it. It's just so amazing the care that's lavished on plants sometimes.

Well I do hope your day goes very well ... and I'm sure everyone will enjoy it simply because you're all together with those you love. The plastic will be of little importance.BernieHhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04435004798656616711noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2243579953985871041.post-3677909039854123982010-05-08T15:00:44.973-05:002010-05-08T15:00:44.973-05:00Can you believe frost at this time of year ...? Here it has been raining non-stop all day - a total wash-out!

The Kitchen Walk you went on sounds intriguing ... we have something called 'Invitation to View' over here - tours around private homes by the owners themselves - always a good afternoon out.

I hope you are having a lovely Mother's Day/daughter's birthday celebration Eileen!

Jeanne
xReading Tea Leaveshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16928999793157507134noreply@blogger.com
